BUY:
$29 - monthly internet. Pay as you go.
WHY?
Until I move somewhere on a more permanent basis, I figure this is the best way to go. I feel I was quite sensible when my month ran out the night before I headed to the Solomons. Rather than top up right then and there (which I wanted to do cos I was right in the middle of organising stuff online when it defaulted to the recharge page) I held off and only topped up on my return. And honestly, where would we be without the whole interweb?
BUY:
$51.59 - monthly phone. On contract.
WHY?
Okay, so perhaps I didn't think the whole contract thing through. I signed up based on the phone. I was dead keen for an iPhone - and really, it's fantastic and allows me to do so many things as well as freeing up space in my handbag! But to get the iPhone I signed up for a plan with allowances higher than what I currently use and in doing so, I pay more than I probably need. All so I could get an iPhone and the oldest model at that!!
Basically for $49 a month, I have a phone call allowance of $350 per month and a download limit of 50MB. If the cool (free) app I downloaded called Consume (which allows me to measure my usage as well as keep a record of frequent flyer points and other loyalty program points) is accurate, I only used about $88 worth of calls and go to 32MB in downloads last month. How I managed to exceed my limits for August is beyond me cos I clearly need to reach out and touch someone more regularly, 'scuse the pun...
